Double-face altar

Double-face altar

1996

In 1996, Malagigi designed a transportable altar that can be used by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians for Fondazione Bambini in Emergenza. It was inaugurated at the meeting in Singureni, Romania, between Romanian President Emil Constantinescu and the Italian President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro. It has the characteristic of being double-faced; some of the internal and external symbols attributed to one religion can be rotated to uncover the images of the other. Meant to be used at different times for different religious services, a key was given to both the priest and the spiritual leader of the village. When disassembled, it becomes a sturdy case for easy transport. Made of salvaged wood by the artisan Melloni Marcello of Florence. With the collaboration of Mino Damato and Nike Magnoni.
