Calcit Carrara & Cultur

1987

“Calcit Carrara & Cultur” was a workshop with the Berlin Academy of Art and the Accademie di Belle Arti di Firenze and Carrara in 1987. For a number of months, students from universities around Europe lived and worked together in the open quarry of Campo Cecina in the Apuan Alps. Malagigi was the activities coordinator for the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and managed the participation of the Erasmus exchange programs. Concerts, meetings, plays, and performances were organized. Educational video documentation covered the development of installations and interventions in the environment, in addition to interviews with the quarrymen and marble technicians. With the collaboration of Piero Guccione, Ingo Schneider, and Piero Orsi.
